Hello everyone this is the third feature email newsletter we've sent out (view first and second) and we do have some great changes to communicate to you. Some of the links below will go to blog entries expanding on the changes. If you have any questions please feel free to email us at [email protected]

It has been an exciting 2018 for us so far with the launch of our new v2 API and general site improvements. So lets get to the updates!

  1. Outreach
  2. Infrastructure
    • We upgraded our PROMETHEUS node from 6 to 16 CPU cores and are now leaning on it more heavily for our post-processing inference engine.
    • The cluster architecture saw some significant improvements since our last newsletter, it's now much better at healing inconsistent nodes and faster at syncing your statistics between nodes. We also made our health indicators more accurate. All of these changes mean the cluster is more reliable overall.
  3. General UI Improvements
    • We redesigned the appearance of the code-snippets and JSON result examples throughout the site, they now have a title bar, icon and distinct colours.
    • The Web Interface page was redesigned again with new collapsable bars and flag options including the ability to set a custom tag for your query. It was also updated to use our newer v2 API which has resulted in huge speed improvements.
    • The Service Status page was redesigned with a much better overall appearance with more detailed breakdowns of our services and their health.
    • The API Documentation page was updated with a new tab bar interface and we added new sections for the v2 API and Dashboard API's are now documented also.
    • We added a Plugins page with tab navigation, we also included a very well made Wordpress plugin on this page.
    • The Examples page was updated with many new examples for Node.js, Python and Ruby. We also broke out the plugins from this page into the new dedicated plugin page.
    • We redesigned the login appearance for the customer dashboard with a split login and registration view
  4. API Improvements
    • We significantly sped up ASN lookup times (from 300ms to under 55ms)
    • We significantly sped up Proxy lookup times (from 40ms to under 1ms)
    • The inference engine was improved and became so fast we were able to enable more of it for real-time inference.
    • We launched our new v2 API which includes a new result format, new query flags and the ability to check up-to 1,000 IP Addresses within a single query.
      • Inf - Allows you to deactivate the real-time inference engine for faster queries.
      • Days - Limit how many days from the present you want results from.
      • Seen - View the last time we saw the IP Address operating as proxies.
      • Port - View the port number of the proxy server for the IP Address.
  5. Dashboard Improvements
    • We sped up the initial loading of the dashboard quite significantly
    • We added new API's for managing your Whitelist and Blacklist (documentation available here)
    • We altered the way recovering an account works so you're no longer sent a new password, instead you're logged in securely through a link in your email.
    • We added our own API to the purchasing tab to stop fraud which we had significant amounts of in late December and early January before we made this change.
    • We added a notice to the dashboard if you're still using our v1 API (we're ending support for v1 on March 1st 2020).
    • We added a new interactive (and beautiful) dashboard graph to the stats tab so you can really see your queries visualised.

We hope you like all of these new changes. If you have any questions please email us at [email protected] we love to hear from you. This is the first feature email we'll be sending this year, we will likely do another one around August-October 2018. If you don't want to receive these emails you can simply login to your account dashboard and untick the new feature emails checkbox.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.
